The Game Centipede is developed and run by Atari
arcade. The game is simple and fun to play. The game portraits a piece of farm
where insects such as spiders and centipede comes to destroy the fruits grown.
If the insects comes in contact with the farmer, a character in the game who
kills the insects, then the farmer dies
and the game points will be lost. The
objective of the user is to destroy the incoming insects. Total destruction of
the insects will lead to a Win. As on increasing the levels the game becomes
more challenging that the number and speed of the incoming insects
increases. The game was over all a good good experience.
Interactivity- The game provides a good level of interactivity and
the graphics and the background scenario with the sound
effects enhances the game play. The game demands the user to shoot
down the incoming insects using the space bar key. The games response to
the user inputs or controls are impressive. It just demands the user for higher
level of accuracy in the later stages of the game.
Concept: The
concept is simple. The game is basically fun game, which shows a piece of farm
land where some insects comes to destroy the farm. These insects should be
killed in order to win the game.
Setting: The setting given to the game in
facts gives an extra edge to the game play. The scenario is a Farm. In the game
the player is the one protecting the farm by killing the insects that the
crops remain damaged.
Goal: The
ultimate goal of each level is to destroy all the incoming insects and
protecting the crops from getting destroyed.
Challenge: The game offers
intermediate difficulty. The game may feel less challenging at the initial
stages of the game. With the increase of the level the difficulty also
increases and it becomes challenging to protect the site.
The challenge is to maintain accuracy of firing with the increase
speed and number of the incoming insects.
Story: The game doesn't provide a detailed story line, but with the
in game characters it is evident the farmer of the gamer is fighting to protect
the crops from insect attacks.
Actions:
The basic action involved
(1) Moving is controlled by arrow keys where Left
arrow is for Left movement, Right arrow for Right movement and up
and down arrow keys for upward and downward movements respectively.
(2) Shooting is controlled by space bar.

Game play
can be described as a race to the end type, where the player have to destroy
all the incoming insects in order to win the game.
