Temple Run...



Temple Run by Imangi Studios is of the most talked about game. It is a game available in AppStore, Android market. The game seems very simple





Objective of the game is to steal an idol from the temple and escape from the chasing demonic monkeys. To do this the player has to run, slide, jump so that the player does not trip, fall of the maze temple wall. The path is visible only to a near distance and hence keeps the player thinking what would be next.The character is controlled by various touch screen gestures. Swipe forward to jump, swipe backward to slide, swipe left/right to turn.While running away from the chasing demonic monkeys, player can collect coins and power ups.Power ups in the game are:Coin , Coin Magnet , Invisibility, Boost.The obstacles are: Breaks in the path, tree roots, tree trunks, burning arch.There are various characters, who can be unlocked by trading for the coins.The settings of the game are simple but simply eye catching and pleasing. The player has to run on the brick wall of the temple.There are no levels or there is no endpoint for the game. However the main goal is to run as far as possible by avoiding obstacles that requires the player to jump, duck or turn in precise method. If the monkey is capable of catching the player, the game ends.
A simple challenge such as path being covered with mist induces level of difficulty. Also the cut in the temple path might make the player to fall into the water.


There are also other obstacles like fire arch, which is sometimes confusing. The player needs to think, if he has to slide beneath the burning arch or jump over it.The story is about a group of explorers. One among them(player) steals the idol and runs to survive by the demonic monkeys. The story does not have an ending but game can be considered as complete when all the characters are unlocked and when you reach a maximum threshold of distance run away from the monkeys.

Asteroids...






Asteroids is a video arcade game released in November 1979 by Atari Inc. It was one of the most popular and influential games of the Golden Age of Arcade Games, selling 70,000 arcade cabinets.[1] Asteroids uses a vector display and a two-dimensional view that wraps around in both screen axes. The player controls a spaceship in an asteroid field which is periodically traversed by flying saucers. The object of the game is to shoot and destroy asteroids and saucers while not colliding with either, or being hit by the saucers' counter-fire.

Game Play :
The objective of Asteroids is to score as many points as possible by destroying asteroids and flying saucers. The player controls a triangular-shaped ship that can rotate left and right, fire shots straight forward, and thrust forward. As the ship moves, momentum is not conserved – the ship eventually comes to a stop again when not thrusting. The player can also send their ship into hyperspace, causing it to disappear and reappear in a random location on the screen (with the risk of self-destructing or appearing on top of an asteroid).

Each stage starts with a few asteroids drifting in random directions on the screen. Objects wrap around screen edges – for instance, an asteroid that drifts off the top edge of the screen reappears at the bottom and continues moving in the same direction. As the player shoots asteroids, they break into smaller asteroids that frequently move faster and are more difficult to hit. Smaller asteroids also score higher points. Periodically, a flying saucer appears on one side of the screen and moves across to the other before disappearing again. The saucers are of two kinds: Large saucers fire in random directions, while small saucers aim at the player's ship.

Escape the Room...



 workshop for Game design class we discussed the escape puzzle or say the escape the room game. Everyone would have played games which needs to think and achieve the goal. In modern day the Spy Mouse game for iPad is one of the popular game in this category. We have designed a game as per the instructions in the workshop.
The main goal of the game is to steal money from two different places in a home and escape from the home. The thief is aware that there are two security cameras. The game is played with 2D6.  Each time the player rolls the dies the cctv camera moves one place and oscillates after 4 rolls. If the player land in front of the camera he has to start from the check point.


The game is simple but has a analytical thinking that the player should use to play the game.
I and Shashi formulated the ideas and board was designed by Kevin.

Four Play...


the four play game i just encountered while searching for the games online  and after playing for around 20 min ,i found it worth to do in deep to its history and add to my blog.

Four play ( also know as Connect Four ,Captain's MistressFour UpPlot FourFind FourFour in a Row and Four in a Line) is a two-player game in which the players first choose a color and then take turns dropping colored discs from the top into a seven-column, six-row vertically-suspended grid. The pieces fall straight down, occupying the next available space within the column. The object of the game is to connect four of one's own discs of the same color next to each other vertically, horizontally, or diagonally before your opponent. 

the game came on Atari 2600 in the video console where you can play against a player or against the system .The play need to stratigies his moves to win ,even having a look on the opponents moves.

Donkey Kong...

Donkey Kong is an arcade game which is released by Nintendo in the year 1981. It is an early example of the platform game genre, The game mainly focuses on the maneuvering the main character across a series of platforms while dodging and jump over obstacles. In this game the Jump man has to rescue a damsel in distress, lady from a giant ape.


Concept:
The concept of the game Donkey Kong is the player has to jump over the barrels and should reach the top of the ladder to save the girl. If he is hit by the barrel or the fire he loses his life. So he has to avoid the obstacles by jumping over them and should reach the top of the ladder in order to save the lady.
Interactivity:
The players interact in this game is to save the lady from the game. The ape continuously throws the barrels from the top of the ladder to kill the player. The player has to escape from the barrels by jumping over the barrels and has to reach the girl who is at the top in order to save her. If he is hit by the barrel and the fire he loses his life.
Challenge:
The player has to save the girl in order to win the every level of this game. The very interesting challenging task in this game is to escape from the barrels and the fires by jumping over them.
Goal:
The ultimate goal of this Donkey Kong game is to save the girl who got trapped by the ape.
Experience:
After playing the game the player feels fear and happy. He feels fear because he should carefully escape from the barrels and the fires which makes him hurt and loses his life. He feels happy when he reaches the top of the ladder and saves the girl's life from the ape.

Centipede..


The Game Centipede is developed and run by Atari arcade. The game is simple and fun to play. The game portraits a piece of farm where insects such as spiders and centipede comes to destroy the fruits grown. If the insects comes in contact with the farmer, a character in the game who kills the insects, then the farmer dies 


and the game points will be lost. The objective of the user is to destroy the incoming insects. Total destruction of the insects will lead to a Win. As on increasing the levels the game becomes more challenging that the number and speed of the incoming insects increases.  The game was over all a good good experience.



Interactivity- The game provides a good level of interactivity and the graphics and the background scenario with the sound effects enhances the game play. The game demands the user to shoot down the incoming insects using the space bar key. The games response to the user inputs or controls are impressive. It just demands the user for higher level of accuracy in the later stages of the game.
Concept: The concept is simple. The game is basically fun game, which shows a piece of farm land where some insects comes to destroy the farm. These insects should be killed in order to win the game.

Setting: The setting given to the game in facts gives an extra edge to the game play. The scenario is a Farm. In the game the player is the one protecting the farm by killing the insects that the crops remain damaged.


Goal: The ultimate goal of each level is to destroy all the incoming insects and protecting the crops from getting destroyed. 


Challenge: The game offers intermediate difficulty. The game may feel less challenging at the initial stages of the game. With the increase of the level the difficulty also increases and it becomes challenging to protect the site. The challenge is to maintain accuracy of firing with the increase speed and number of the incoming insects. 

Story: The game doesn't provide a detailed story line, but with the in game characters it is evident the farmer of the gamer is fighting to protect the crops from insect attacks.


Actions: 
The basic action involved
 (1) Moving is controlled by arrow keys where Left arrow is for Left movement, Right arrow for Right movement and  up and down arrow keys for upward and downward movements respectively.
 (2) Shooting is controlled by space bar. 

Game play:
Game play can be described as a race to the end type, where the player have to destroy all the incoming insects in order to win the game.

Contra...

Contra is one of the most popular and most played game . Its an arcade game which gives the player adventure of killing the enemy and sometime being killed . It has different kinds of levels. The main action being shooting aliens. The core mechanic of the game is to kill the aliens, destroy shooting alien machines by shooting at them and surviving from their bullets. The character is controlled by moving towards the right of the screen. 

the contra came in year 1987 as a coin operated machine but soon the number of the version of the game were launched in the coming years

The settings keep changing for each level. Different settings include forest, waterfall, frozen different military based mazes. These areas are thought to be alien owned. It may differ according to the perception of the individual.



The player is equipped with gun with unlimited ammo. The player can jump, crawl and fire in different directions. One bullet shot from the enemy kills the character. The big theme is run towards the shooting machine and destroy it, while killing other aliens who attacks you.








Main goal of the game is to survive, destroy and proceed to end, to save the Earth from the Aliens.
The difficulty level increases when the number of alien soldiers increase in the screen at one point of time. Also when the hidden soldier on the shooting machine shows up. The challenge increase in the mazed level where the space for movement is very less. We need to move sideways duck-shoot, jump in the same place, keeping an eye on the barreled bombs rolled by the alien soldiers. As the game progresses the enemy strength increases
